OVATION, A DAY FOR THE ARTS AT LAKEWOOD RANCH
It’s that time of year again – when Lakewood Ranch’s popular celebration of the performing arts brings Main Street to life with special demonstrations and interactive booths and displays. The third annual event will once again also feature live performances from the Ovation stage.
This unique way to experience the performing arts is free and open to the public at Lakewood Ranch Main Street on Feb. 6, 2010. The street festival will highlight many of the performing arts and cultural establishments in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Ovation is designed to appeal to all ages and interests. Some of the participants include the Sarasota Opera, Manatee Players and Fuzión Dance Artists. Ovation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue through the afternoon, ending at 5 p.m.
Admission is free; this event benefits WUSF Public Broadcasting. WUSF is a trustworthy source for local and national news, in-depth reporting, educational programming, arts, culture and the finest in jazz and classical music. Staff members of WUSF will be on hand at the event to provide information about their programs and services. On-air personalities Coleen Cook, Russell Grant, Susan Giles Wantuck and Bob Seymour will be there to meet and greet the crowd.
“We could not be more pleased with our partnership with WUSF,” said Milt Flinn, president of LWR Communities. “So many of our Lakewood Ranch residents move here because of our proximity to great cultural activities and the amazing performing artists in this area. The substantial commitment WUSF has to promoting the arts throughout the greater Tampa Bay area makes them a great partner and sponsor for Ovation.”
Ovation provides a casual, fun atmosphere for individuals and families to see special performances from some of the most distinguished arts groups in the Sarasota/Manatee region. A stage will be located on Main Street in front of the fountain, adjacent to MacAllisters Restaurant, and will host the highlights of the event’s activities. For a full listing of the participating organizations and a schedule of performances, visit www.LWRevents.com and click on Ovation.
Ovation is sponsored by LWR Communities, and LWRLife Magazine.
